Charlena Patterson

As a HR professional, corporate trainer and current adjunct professor she has more than 35 years of experience working in diverse corporate and federal environments, including non-profit, government, telecommunications, energy and private government contracting 8(A) businesses. As a training and coaching consultant for both on-site and “on-line” webinars she identifies and facilitates organizational training needs in a wide variety of areas that impact organizational performance such as communication, conflict, stress, work-life balance, health and safety, human resources, management/leadership, and diversity to name a few. Her teaching style and classroom successes reflect her ability to meet client/organizational/student needs and to creatively establish trust and rapport with those at all levels. Clients include Employee Assistance Providers such as: Business Health Services, APS Healthcare, Inc., Workplace Options, INOVA and Lifework Strategies. She is a corporate training consultant to the American Management Association (AMA) and The HR Source. Finally, she is an Adjunct Professor teaching both graduate & undergrad courses at University of Maryland (UMUC) and Catholic University of America in the field of human resources.

Charlena earned her M.S.A. degree from Central Michigan University (MI) in Human Resources & Organizational Development, a BA degree in Business Management. She also completed several executive leadership programs and courses which included the Creative Center for Leadership (CCL) in North Carolina and The Institute for Organization Management thru the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s program for nonprofit management from Villanova University in Pennsylvania. She has also earned recognition as a “Train the Trainer” facilitator for the state of Maryland Department of Human Services.
